Dig a Little Deeper or Inelim Biz Daha Derine

Last Wednesday, I got to see three of my five roommates (and an honorary roommate)! It was lucky that we got to be together before two of them left over the next two days. I am so excited for them to serve in the field and wish them success as they do the Lord's work! It was fun to take a picture and catch up on each other's lives. I am so thankful I got to see them before they went and before I leave the MTC next week!  One bizarre thing that happened this week happened on Friday, when people who didn't get their visas in my district got their reassignments (except the Macedonians who accidentally got forgotten, they get theirs this Friday). We all gathered together with cinnamon rolls and little sticky notes from the travel office which contained their reassignment. There were only two people who had gotten their reassignments, so they each went up to a podium and read where they were going. The first to go was an elder, he got up, opened his littl...

Hazırlık Günü

It is now week 7 of being a missionary and week 6 of being here at the MTC. It's weird though, I don't understand how being here could feel like 6 years and a couple days at the same time. I totally understand that I need to be here to learn my language, but at the same time I am so ready to go out into the field. I have heard other missionaries who have left the MTC say that they miss it and some aspects of it. I think that these missionaries either have not been at the MTC for too long or they were here for so long that they actually went crazy. I mean, I guess I might miss all the time I have here to study my language and the scriptures, so they might be right, but I don't think I'll believe it until I finally leave. Last P-day, after I wrote my email and finished laundry early that morning, my companions and I headed back to our building to prepare for the temple. On the side of the building, there is a staircase that leads down to the first floor, which is where ...

"How Great Thou Art"

It has been a great couple of days as we continue on here at the MTC. I've been seeing people I know from BYU here and it's weird to think that I was only a little bit away from the MTC when I lived there. My dorm building is in plain sight of Building 12 at Heritage Halls. I used to look at the MTC from my dorm or as we passed it to go to the temple and it's weird to see it all from a different perspective. I am so glad for the time I had at BYU. I keep thinking about all the great people I met, how I changed when I was there, and some really great friendships that I made. One cool thing that I realized is that it is possible that three of my five roommates will be here at the MTC at the same time! I am so excited to see them!  I am loving my calling as an STL here at the MTC. It has been a whirlwind of different things as we try to help everyone adjust to missionary life. We have had a couple of scary moments this week with girls having health problems and heading to th...
